Kaspers Opens in Bandra

Kaspers

Text: Team UpperCrust

How do you set yourself apart – and stay the course – in a city that’s mushrooming with cafés and bistros, with quite a handful that shut shop? Leave it to seasoned restaurateurs like Gauri and Jay to figure it out! The Table has stood the test of time and raked in the rewards for its efforts, and now, the duo have introduced a bistro in Bandra. Kaspers is creative and distinctive, with Table’s Chef Will Aghajanian, who has designed the space himself.

The name greets you as you enter, set on a red background, amidst a colourful mosaic-tiled floor. There’s a Sistine Chapel-like feel to Kaspers, with devious little cherubs popping up all over, even on the coffee cups. For your entertainment, crayons in the tile colours are provided with a drawing sheet over the plain white tablecloth, go crazy! Chef Will has even picked the ambient playlist to go with the soft interiors, in dim lighting, and red leather booths… very reminiscent of a New York café. The wine bottles stacked on the top of the walls are a feature worth mentioning – they’re empty, for you to take home and remember the night at Kaspers – your friendly neighbourhood bistro.

Take a seat at the bar with high chairs in the middle of the room and while the night away with the Garibaldi, the Filthy Martini or the Last Samurai – we’re not giving away spoilers here. Visit Kaspers and you’ll discover Will’s menu is evolving and changing with the seasons, much like at Table. Steak Tartare that’s 'hand-cut'; Spaghetti Arrabbiata that’s ‘angry’; a pithivier with portobello and pepper; a veal chop Cordon Bleu style with morels… and so much more of the good stuff.

Wrap it up with the Hot Fudge Profiterole Sundae and the angels will be smiling down on you.
